Amherst bank robber turns himself in

The suspect in today’s robbery of an M&T Bank in Amherst turned himself in at a Buffalo Police precinct several hours after the robbery, Amherst police announced.

The man – described as a light-skinned male, Hispanic or very tan, who is 60 to 70 and has a stocky build – was taken into custody. His name has not yet been released.

The suspect used a note to demand cash from a teller and left with an unknown amount of money.

The Amherst and University at Buffalo Police Departments searched the surrounding area of the 3500 Main St. location but did not find the suspect.
