Buffalo police have identified the driver killed Friday morning at Delaware Avenue and Great Arrow as Nathan Redmond, 51, of Buffalo.

After an autopsy conducted this morning, Erie County medical examiners ruled the cause of death as multiple blunt force trauma.

Buffalo police accident investigators say the cause of the crash remains under investigation but say it was not domestic related.

The crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. Friday when Redmond’s Escalade struck another vehicle in the rear, forcing that vehicle off the road near the Great Arrow Plaza.

The Escalade continued on, through the plaza parking lot, and then struck another vehicle as it left the parking lot. The second vehicle was struck as it was stopped at a red light on Great Arrow at Delaware.

Redmond’s Escalade then struck an apartment building at the corner of Delaware and Great Arrow.

With the help of the jaws of life, Buffalo firefighters removed the driver of the Escalade, but he was declared dead at the scene.
