A black bear decided to hang out in a West Seneca neighborhood Saturday morning until it was chased off by the police and members of the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

West Seneca Police said about 8:30 a.m. they learned the bear was seen roaming through yards of a residential neighborhood off Clinton Street and Union Road, near Burchfield Nature & Art Center.

Authorities shooed the bear toward Buffalo Creek. Black bears are not normally considered aggressive, authorities said.
