LOCKPORT – The only speaker at a Niagara County Industrial Development Agency public hearing Friday in City Hall lambasted Reid Petroleum for seeking a 10-year tax break on an expansion of its Lockport headquarters.

“Reid Petroleum is totally able to do this without a tax break. It’s ludicrous,” Ted Leveque said.

Reid is planning a two-story addition to its West Genesee Street office building, to bring the corporate office of its Crosby Stores convenience store chain from Brockport to Lockport. The $1.37 million project would accommodate nine jobs from the Brockport office and an expanded accounting department.

The IDA board is scheduled to vote on the request at its June 11 meeting.
