Jamestown woman arrested on heroin-trafficking charges

JAMESTOWN – A 20-year-old Jamestown woman was arrested on drug charges in what Jamestown police said is a continuing investigation of heroin trafficking around the city.

Carmen Lopez was arrested on felony drug charges about 9 a.m. following a raid at 113 Willard St. Investigators reported seizing more than 29 grams of uncut heroin, packaging material, scales and other drug paraphernalia.

The action also involved searches of two parked vehicles on Barrows Street and two storage units in the Town of Ellicott.

Officials said heroin seized is the equivalent of about 600 doses or 60 bundles of heroin with a street value of about $7,200. Lopez is being held in the City Jail. The investigation is continuing and more charges are expected, officials said.

Lopez is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third-degree, which carries a possible 25-year prison term, and criminally using drug paraphernalia.
