SILVER CREEK – A project to build a water park, hotel and McDonald’s fast food restaurant appears to be back on the table in the town of Hanover.
Speculation in recent weeks has been that MMM Development would pull the project. Tony and Michelle Borrello, local business owners, had issued a statement about the lack of communication from the local code enforcement officer and the many requirements to proceed.
Chautauqua County Legislator George Borrello, R-Silver Creek, a relative of the developers, confirmed today that Tony and Michelle Borrello met at the town offices. He said Supervisor Todd Johnson and Chautauqua County Industrial Development Director Kevin Sanvidge were also present.
George Borrello said that drawings of the site, which is located on Routes 5 and 20 near Lake Shore Hospital, were provided.
The drawings show a development for a McDonald’s restaurant as well as plans for a hotel and eventually a water park area.
“MMM Development had announced the plans about two years ago and has been working on development,” George Borrello said. He said the family is very community minded. Tony Borrello has also expressed interest in trying to purchase Lake Shore Hospital and support the facility.
“This was the first time the town officials got to see drawings with so much detail for the site,” said George Borrello. He said he hopes the project will receive support from the town and county to proceed quickly.
