Lockport woman sentenced in meth case

LOCKPORT – A short jail sentence and probation were imposed Thursday on a Lockport woman who said her boyfriend, who is now in state prison, introduced her to methamphetamine.

Barbara J. Dickenson, 22, of Spruce Street, Lockport, will start a five-year probation term with six months in Niagara County Jail, County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III ordered. She already has served most of the time.

Dickenson pleaded guilty in March to fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree unlawful manufacture of meth, She and Matthew C. Brown, 29, of Prentice Street, Lockport, were arrested Nov. 10 in a parked car under the Day Road Bridge over the Erie Canal in the Town of Lockport.

Brown, who admitted to the same charges as his girlfriend, was sentenced last month to 2½ years in state prison.
