Gowanda school bus involved in accident with farm equipment

LITTLE VALLEY – A 17-year-old girl was taken to the hospital this morning after an accident involving a Gowanda School District bus and a piece of farm equipment in the Cattaraugus County Town of Perrysburg.

The accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. on Mosher Road, just south of Route 39, sheriff’s deputies reported.

The bus, driven by Ronald L. Warrior, 67, of Brant, was heading north when it “encountered” a large farm tractor traveling in the opposite direction, deputies said. The tractor, driven by Nelson Nobles, 48, of South Dayton, was towing a large “ripper,” which is used for tilling soil.

The teenage girl, who was among 10 children on the bus, was taken by ambulance to Lake Shore Health Care Center in Irving after reporting neck pain, deputies said. No other students were injured; further information on the girl’s condition wasn’t immediately available.

No charges have been issued and the accident remains under investigation, deputies said.
