Free books for all BPS students

For the second year in a row, the Buffalo Teachers Federation has distributed books to all Buffalo Public School students.

This year, each of Buffalo’s 35,000 students received a book from Disney, one of the main publishers that First Book works with, said BTF President Phil Rumore.

Added to last year’s distribution, the total number of books that have been delivered for the past two years is 70,000.

An organization called First Book provided the new age-appropriate books for free, except for a 65 cent shipping and handling fee, which was covered by the BTF, the New York State United Teachers and the American Federation of Teachers.
