Bike riders to close Skyway on Saturday morning

Bicycles will pedal over the Buffalo Skyway Saturday morning when GObike Buffalo hosts its first SkyRide.

The ride will start at 10 a.m. from Canalside, with registration beginning at 8. Riders will complete two routes – a 14-mile South Loop going to the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens and a 15-mile North Loop through Delaware Park and along the Niagara River.

GObike Buffalo executive director Justin Booth notes that the Skyway “is 110 feet high and undoubtedly the largest hill in Buffalo. It will be shut down for two hours only to allow cyclists to safely pass along it.”

Cyclists will begin to return to Canalside at 12:30 p.m., when food trucks and a beer tent will open. Registration is $50 advance, $60 on the day of the ride. For information and registration, visit
