Woman tells deputies her marijuana is her medicine

WHEATFIELD – A 23-year-old woman stopped for a traffic violation by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies was found carrying marijuana which she said she uses for anxiety, but she likely faces more anxiety after being charged.

According to a report released Tuesday, Stacey R. Faubert, 23, of Clair Avenue, North Tonawanda was stopped at 12:15 a.m. Sunday on Ward Road for failure to keep right.

Deputies noticed a strong odor of burnt marijuana and Faubert said she “smoked weed earlier,” but a check found a prescription pill bottle filled with marijuana which she told deputies she needs for anxiety.

Faubert was additionally issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana.
