Financial Institutions, the parent company of Five Star Bank, elected Robert N. Latella chairman of both the Financial Institutions and Five Star Bank boards of directors at its annual meeting of shareholders. Latella is of counsel at the law firm of Hiscock and Barclay, and is the chief operating officer of Integrated Nano-Technologies. Also, Andrew W. Dorn Jr. and Robert M. Glaser were elected to both boards. Dorn was the founder of Great Lakes Bancorp, the parent company of Greater Buffalo Savings Bank, where he served as president and chief executive officer. He also founded Jamestown Savings Bank, serving as president and chief executive officer. Glaser was the managing director of Freed Maxick.


Fundraising software developer SofTrek promoted Tara L. Kaye to manager, project management office and education. Kaye joined the company as documentation specialist and most recently served as client education team lead. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University and a master’s degree from Elmira College.


Nussbaumer & Clarke appointed Justin Glover survey technician. Glover is a graduate of Paul Smith’s College, where he received a certificate in geographic information systems as well as an associate’s degree. He will support both Erie County offices, as well as the expanding Ellicottville office location.

Kenmore Mercy Hospital received both the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With the Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus & Target Stroke Honor Roll, as well as Get With the Guidelines – Heart Failure Gold Plus & Target Heart Honor Roll Awards in 2014. This is the second consecutive year that Kenmore Mercy Hospital has received the Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award and is also the first year that the hospital has been recognized for achieving the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Target Stroke Honor Roll.


Moog Inc. signed a 10-year exclusive contract with Xiamen Airlines for comprehensive support of the Moog Flight Control Systems on Xiamen Airlines’ fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft. The program will include maintenance and inventory support via Moog’s strategically selected worldwide stocking locations, giving Xiamen 24/7 access to Moog spares. Xiamen Airlines is a Chinese domestic and international airline based in Xiamen, Fuzhou and Hangzhou.


Life Technologies, Grand Island, was awarded a $1,395,000 federal contract for platinum taq deoxyribonucleic acid polymerase assay kits from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Program Support Center, Perry Point, Md.


Abbey Mecca & Company recently completed production of an eight-minute video for Bornhava, a nonprofit preschool for children with special needs located in Snyder. The company donated creative development and production of the video, which was presented at the Bornhava annual dinner gala and auction fundraiser.
