WHEATFIELD – A Cheektowaga man was stopped Monday on Shawnee Road after Niagara County sheriff’s deputies received a report of a reckless driver.

Nicholas A. Giardina, 25, of Christian Drive was spotted by deputies crossing the center line and the fog lines at 11:34 a.m. while on Shawnee Road. He told deputies that he was trying to take his shirt off, but still had his shirt on, according to deputies. He admitted he had taken a prescription narcotic Suboxone strip before driving.

He was found to have had his license revoked and was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and was additionally charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and controlled substance outside its container after deputies found an opened Suboxone strip on the passenger seat and an unopened one of the floor.

He was also charged with failure to keep right.
