Having fun and helping the Zoo

All things Buffa-Lovely will be happening at The Buffalo Zoo on May 30 with BuffaLoveFest, a musical and artful benefit event. All the Queen City-centric activity starts at 5:30 and goes until 9 p.m. at various stages and sites throughout the grounds.

Local bands slated to perform on stages near the lions, tigers and polar bears are The Steam Donkeys, Whiskey Reverb, and a new assemblage – BuffaLoveBirds featuring vocals by the one and only showman Lance Diamond. A DJ from Spooky Business will spin party music. When asked if there will be a dance floor marketing manager Michael Powers said “there’s no official dance floor but dancing can happen anywhere at the party.”

Other party attractions are a Buffalo trivia contest within the Rainforest Falls at the Zoo (with prizes, of course), appearances by animal ambassadors Luna and Kali, 50 local artists selling their Buffalo-inspired wares, and an appearance by photo-op-worthy Buffy the bison of Buffalo Citybration fame. BuffaLoveFest will have food for sale from 14 of city food trucks and Flying Bison will be pouring out its brews.

Tickets for this 21 and over celebration are $20 in advance and $30 at the door (and includes two drink tickets). Purchase tickets through www.brownpapertickets.com.
