Rehabiltating birds of prey is topic of free program

LEWISTON – A free program about rehabilitating injured birds of prey is on tap next Sunday at Bond Lake Park, 2571 Lower Mountain Road.

Wendi Pencille of Bless the Beasts Foundation will present a raptor rehabilitation program at 12:30 and 2 p.m.

Pencille, who has been working in this field for more than 25 years, will exhibit live raptors and mounted specimens, as well as showing photos of raptors at various stages of recovery in her facility and telling stories about her experiences.

The Bond Lake Beautification Committee, which is sponsoring the vent in the nature center at the rear of the park’s warming house, said it hopes Pencille’s program will leave visitors with a clearer understanding of what it takes to care for injured wild animals that depend on humans.
