GASPORT – A half-carat diamond wedding ring valued at $6,500 was stolen from an Asher Street home, sheriff’s deputies said Saturday.

The victim returned home late Friday to find the ring missing from its storage place atop an upstairs bedroom dresser. She told deputies that there appeared to have been no forced entry to the home, but later discovered that a spare key for the side door had been moved from its normal storage place, and may have been used in the break-in.

The missing ring was described as silver and gold with a half-carat main diamond and five other smaller stones.
