Glenn continues to sizzles as Bisons win

LOUISVILLE — The Buffalo Bisons found some pop at the plate and got solid pitching when they needed it to earn a 7-5 win over the Louisville Bats at Louisville Slugger Field on Friday night.

Brad Glenn drove in three runs on three hits as he continues to impress offensively since his promotion to the Bisons from Double-A New Hampshire.

He has hit in all seven starts since joining the Herd. The right-fielder has driven in eight runs in his last four games.

Starter Sean Hill (2-1) gave up two runs on six hits in six innings. Hill walked two and struck out three.

The Bisons took a 1-0 lead in the second on a sacrifice fly from Mike Nickeas.

The Bats took their only lead of the game in the third when a two-run single from Chris Nelson put them up, 2-1.

The Herd tied the game on a fielder’s choice in the fourth, then scored three runs in the fifth, including two on a fielding error.

Glenn drove in two runs in the seventh to extend the lead to 7-2.

Louisville chipped away, picking up a run in the seventh and two in the eighth, but closer Bobby Koreky retired all three batters in the ninth to preserve the win and pick up his fifth save.

The teams continue their series tonight (6:05 p.m., Radio 1520 AM) with Chad Jenkins scheduled to get the start. Jenkins is 1-1 with a 3.47 ERA with the Herd. The Bats will counter with former Bison Chien-Ming Wang (3-4, 4.47 ERA).

Marcus Stroman is scheduled to start for the Bisons on Sunday while Ricky Romero is the probable for Monday when the Herd open a four-game series in Indianapolis.
