The Rochester Yellowjackets lost their opening game in the NCAA Division III Softball Championships, 8-7, to Wisconsin-Whitewater at Suddenlink Field in Tyler, Texas, on Thursday.

Rochester had a 6-1 lead after four innings, but the Warhawks scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 7-6 lead.

Rochester tied the game in the sixth when Meghan Hennessy (Immaculata) scored on a wild pitch, but the Warhawks scored with one out in the bottom of the seventh to take the win. Lauren Muni (Clarence) is also a member of the Rochester team.

The Yellowjackets will play St. Thomas (Minn.) at noon Friday in an elimination game.
