High Time Stables squad shines in competition

The High Time Stables Upper School equestrian team, based at Sugar Brook Farm in East Aurora, finished second at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association National Championship show and won the Reserve Champion title.

Seven riders competed against the top 21 teams from across the country in Springville, Mass. Freshman Katelyn Cefali won the JV Novice Flat class and senior Fiona Nocera was second in the JV Intermediate class.

In the last ride in the show, senior co-captain Sarah Klocke earned the necessary points to clinch the Reserve Champion title.

“This is a special group of reserve champion athletes who understand the meaning of team work and hard work,” coach Leigh Fischer said. “They truly earned this championship. These athletes work well together, supporting each other through the highs and lows of competition, which contributes to their success.”

The top three teams in each of the eight zones were invited to the national competition. High Time Stables, with only 12 riders, is one of the smallest of the 97 upper school teams in Zone 2, which covers New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
