WHEATFIELD – The Niagara County Sheriff Department charged a mother on Monday after her 2-year-old son was found naked in the driveway and moving closer to the road. A neighbor who found the child brought him inside and put clothes on him at 11 a.m. in the 7300 block of Ward Road.
The neighbor said her husband went to the door to notify the child’s mother, but after trying for 15 minutes without success, they called the police.
Deputies found the door unlocked and after knocking on the door and yelling into the house, the mother Lauren V. Golding, 24, of Ward Road came out of the house. She told deputies that she was upstairs folding clothes and had laid down with her son. She said she was unaware that he woke up and left the house.
Golding was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and a relative was called to assist with the child. Child Protective Services was also contacted, according to sheriff’s deputies.
