NIAGARA FALLS – A Niagara Falls police officer on patrol stopped two men on bicycles carrying large bags that were found to contain approximately 30 pounds of copper at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of 22nd Street.

The two men, who told police they were “dumpster diving,” were also found with backpacks that contained gloves, flashlight, a vise grip, computer speakers, pliers and several screwdrivers, as well as a hammer and a saw knife.

Brandon P. Smith, 19, of 23rd St. and Justin M. Quarantillo, 18, of Ferry Avenue were both charged with possession of burglar tools.
