John E. Palmer, law firm partner, WWII veteran

John “Jack” E. Palmer, formerly of Buffalo, died Saturday at his home in Lewiston under the care of Niagara Hospice. He was 88.

Born in Rochester, Mr. Palmer enlisted in the Army Air Forces in 1943 and received his commission as a bombardier.

He was honorably discharged in 1945 and attended Syracuse University, where he was coxswain of the varsity crew. He then graduated from Fordham University Law School.

Mr. Palmer was a partner in the law firm of Schutrum, Howder & Palmer in Buffalo and later served as counsel at Cohen, Swados in Buffalo.

For many years, he was on the board of HART Interfaith and also delivered meals for Niagara County Meals on Wheels.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, the former Ann Mansour Moses; two stepsons, David and Paul Mansour; a stepdaughter, Jane Solomon; a sister, Barbara Black; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be private.
