Friedlander Memorial to be dedicated

Formal dedication of the John E. Friedlander Memorial Sculpture honoring the first chief executive officer of Kaleida Health will take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Gates Vascular Institute next to Buffalo General Medical Center.

More than 150 former colleagues, friends and members of Friedlander’s family are expected to attend the event. Friedlander died in 2005 at age 58.

Speakers during the ceremony will include Carrie B. Frank, chair of the Friedlander Memorial Sculpture Committee and a former Kaleida Health administrator; Charles E. Balbach, former chairman of the Buffalo General board of trustees; Shayne Dark, who made the “In Motion” sculpture; and Friedlander’s children.

A campaign for the sculpture raised more than $100,000 in contributions from 150 donors.
