Bill Ayers, 1960s activist and co-founder of the Weather Underground, will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Burning Books, 420 Connecticut St.

The Weather Underground conducted a campaign of bombings of public buildings during the 1960s and 1970s in opposition to the Vietnam war. A retired University of Illinois education professor and author, Ayers’ casual friendship with then-presidential candidate Barack Obama became a subject of controversy during the campaign.
