Two hurt in 2-car Amherst crash

A two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on North Forest Road in Amherst sent two people to Erie County Medical Center for evaluation of their injuries.

Judith A. Wilson, 69, and her passenger, Nancy F. Wilson, 71, both of Williamsville, were extracted from their vehicle by firefighters from the Snyder Fire Company, Amherst police said.

It was not clear whether the victims were related to one another.

Judith Wilson was driving north on North Forest Road, near Park Club Lane, at about 12:45 p.m. when she struck a guard rail, said Capt. Patrick McKenna of the Accident Investigation Unit. She swerved across the road, sideswiping a vehicle traveling south on North Forest, then struck a guy wire from a utility pole, McKenna said.

The car got stuck on the wire and flipped over on its side.

The driver of the other vehicle, Douglas W. Smith, 46, of Williamsville, was not injured.
