Dr. Samantha Nelson of Sheridan Animal Hospital & Veterinary Specialists of Western New York earned the title of Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons – Small Animal. She previously fulfilled a three-year small-animal surgical residency at Cornell University as well as a small-animal internship at the University of Georgia. Nelson earned her bachelor’s degree at Whitman College, master’s degree at the University at Buffalo and her veterinary degree at Cornell University.


Fundraising software developer SofTrek promoted Tracy M. Pericozzi to professional services manager. Pericozzi was previously a business intelligence team leader.


Stanley A. Wyner, a Buffalo-Niagara chair for Vistage International, was designated master chair by Vistage. He also earned his third consecutive annual Vistage Chair Excellence Award. Vistage is an organization of private advisory boards and coaching for CEOs, business owners, and senior executives.

Company Connections

The Buffalo law firm of Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman launched a new website, www.nyemploymentlaw.com. The site, which is managed by attorneys Amy Habib Rittling and Vincent Miranda, two members of the firm’s labor and employment law practice group, is intended to serve as a resource for business owners and human resources professionals about changes and rulings regarding New York employment law.


Applied Fabric Technologies, Orchard Park was awarded a $58,256 federal contract for oil containment booms from the U.S. Naval Supply Systems Command, Seal Beach, Calif.


Moog Inc., East Aurora, was awarded a $226,950 federal contract for the repair of cylinder assemblies from the U.S. Naval Supply Systems Command, Philadelphia.


The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops awarded its 2013 chairman contributions. Joe Lane, 2013 Taste chairman, presented a $15,000 donation to the Greater Niagara Frontier Council of the Boy Scouts. In addition, a $1,000 donation was also made to the Food Bank of Western New York. After all event expenses are paid, the Taste chairman designates any remaining money be donated to the charity or charities of his or her choice. More than $250,000 has been raised at the festival for local charities, in addition to awarding five $1,000 scholarships annually to local high school seniors pursuing a culinary or hospitality-related degree.
