David J. Flegier, teacher in Sweet Home district

Feb. 10, 1942 – May 12, 2014

David J. Flegier of the Town of Tonawanda, an elementary school teacher for 35 years in the Sweet Home Central School District, died Monday at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston after a long illness. He was 72.

A lifelong resident of the Buffalo area, Mr. Flegier was a member of the first graduating class at Sweet Home High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Buffalo and a master’s degree in education from Buffalo State College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He retired from the Sweet Home schools in 2000. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid outdoorsman.

Survivors include his wife, the former Judith Bulgrin; two daughters, Jennifer Pacella and Gwendolyn Truby; and three grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda.
