NIAGARA FALLS – Police responded to a report of gunfire involving two cars Monday afternoon on Highland Avenue near the Elks Sunset Lodge. Both cars had left the scene by the time police arrived.

Police found two .380 caliber shell casings in the middle of the southbound lane of Highland.

Witnesses said they heard two gunshots just before 1:30 p.m. and saw a brown or beige Impala, which had been shot at, drive into a fence on the west side of Highland and then get stuck.

The shooter, who was driving a green Pontiac with all black tires, left the scene heading south on Highland. The other driver as able to free the vehicle from the fence and drove away, heading north on Highland Avenue, according to witnesses.
