Scholarship book sale planned May 28

The Buffalo Branch of the American Association of University Women will open its 60th anniversary scholarship book sale on May 28 with an estimated 150,000 hard and soft cover books, DVDs, CDs, games and puzzles.

The five-day sale will be held in Burlington Plaza, 1551 Niagara Falls Blvd.

Featured will be 230 tables of fiction and non-fiction books, cookbooks, children’s books, large print and audio books. Most of them sell for 50 cents to $1. Prices are higher for new books and collectibles displayed in the specially-priced section, organizers said.

Proceeds will benefit scholarships for high school and college students, fellowships for graduate and post-graduate work, interest-free college loans for male and female students and other programs and grants.

Up to $100,000 is allocated to these programs annually by the AAUW branch.
