South Transit Street in City of Lockport to be repaved next week

LOCKPORT – Weather permitting, work is expected to begin Monday on the milling and repaving of South Transit Street, Route 78, in the City of Lockport from the Tri-Way Bridge over the Erie Canal to Dorchester Road, which is just over the city line in the Town of Lockport.

“This is something that we accelerated because of the deteriorating pavement conditions after the harsh winter,” said Susan S. Surdej, state Department of Transportation spokeswoman.

The job is expected to last about two weeks, and drivers can expect to encounter daily lane closures until the repaving is done.
