LOCKPORT – A man who pleaded guilty to a drug possession felony was placed on six months’ interim probation Friday, even though he has failed at five or six drug rehabilitation stints.

“It will be by his own hand that his fate is sealed,” Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas said of Nicholas J. Rubino. 24, of Hyde Park Boulevard, Niagara Falls.

Rubino pleaded guilty to fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for having cocaine and assorted pills when police raided his apartment March 28, 2013.

He faces up to 2½ years in prison if he fails on probation.
