Joe Bonamassa brings his fiery blues to Shea’s

Joe Bonamassa has had quite the busy year. He’s released a pair of albums with singer Beth Hart, and both are blisteringly good. He’s part of the funk-jazz collective Rock Candy Funk Party, and that band released a studio album, did a short tour and dropped a live disc and DVD this year. And he’s also pushing forward with a spring and summer tour with his own band.

Regarded, rightly, as one of the finest blues-rock guitarists of his generation, Bonamassa was a prodigy as a young man, and has grown ever more refined as a player over the ensuing years. Elements of influence from the greatest British and Irish rock and blues players – Jimmy Page, Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore – abound in Bonamassa’s music, but ultimately his brand of fiery blues and the various rock inspirations have coalesced into something truly his own.

Bonamassa performs at 8 p.m. Friday in Shea’s Performing Arts Center (646 Main St.). Tickets are $72 to $128 (box office). Visit
