SILVER CREEK – Mayor Nick Piccolo released his list of appointments for the village of Silver Creek on Tuesday. Piccolo announced that appointments will be for one year with the exception of trustee appointments, which may change pending the outcome of November elections.
This year will be the first year for village elections in November. Positions previously were decided at special elections in March of each year.
Village Clerk Karrianne Pelletter was re-appointed. The clerk’s position was reduced to part-time starting with the June 1 fiscal year. Pelletter was also appointed as census officer, housing officer, records officer and grants coordinator.
Village Treasurer Janet St. George was also reappointed to her full time position. She will also serve as registrar of vital statistics.
Maureen Morabito was re-named chairwoman of the planning board, and Jeffrey Hornburg was re-named chairman of the zoning board of appeals. Linda DeFries-Johnson was re-named code enforcement officer.
James Tytka was elected by fire department members as the new fire chief. His appointment was confirmed by the mayor. The mayor was undecided on the position of disaster coordinator for the village. The coordinator position and disaster team will be announced later.
The mayor announced that the entire board will work as a committee on a long-range comprehensive plan.
Trustee Thomas Harmon was named as liaison to the Erie County Water Authority and for development and chamber of commerce issues.
Trustee Warren Kelly was named liaison to Southern Tier West Development Association and the Chadwick Bay Regional Development Association as well as to the fire department.
Trustee Anthony Pearl will serve as representative for local court issues and for the Lakefront Water Revitalization Program and the Silver Creek Food Pantry.
Trustee Ben Peters was named liaison to the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging Committee and to the youth recreation committee and village’s special events committee.
Peters was also named safety officer for the village.
