Rubblebucket brings its unique sound to the Town Ballroom on Friday.

Attempting to describe the sound of Brooklyn-born band Rubblebucket is a bit of a thankless task. Is the group a funk collective? A post-R&B outfit? A pop group? A jam band? Is this dance music? Rock? Do the synthesizers suggest that Rubblebucket should be filed under EMD? Does anyone even care?

Last time Rubblebucket came through Western New York, the group turned a fairly sparsely attended gig in the Rapids Theatre in Niagara Falls into a full-blown dance party. No one in attendance seemed to be too particularly concerned with what genre of music they were reacting to. They just went with it. Rubblebucket is eclecticism defined, a blurring of stylistic lines with a more than pleasing result.
