BATAVIA – Two new residence halls for students at Genesee Community College are under construction and will be ready for use when the college begins its fall semester in August.
Each residence hall will contain 16 living units, with each unit housing four students.
The new halls will be in the College Village adjacent to the campus. When the new buildings are opened, the Village will have housing for a total of 453 students, but there still is a waiting list.
The two new buildings – costing $2.8 million – are similar to two that were built in 2007.
Community colleges usually do not offer housing, so GCC’s College Village is owned and operated by a separate corporation, the GCC Foundation.
