The Western New York Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO, presented awards to a unionist from each of its five central labor councils at its annual appreciation awards dinner. The recipients were: Bob Mahoney, SEIU Local 200 United, Buffalo CLC; Pat Kelly, USW Local 4601, Cattaraugus/Allegany CLC; Don Williams Jr., CSEA Local 807, Dunkirk CLC; Jack Rudy, CSEA Local 903, Jamestown CLC; Christ Sposito, CWA Local 1117/AFSCME Local 855, Niagara/Orleans CLC.


Orchard Fresh executive chef Erin Horton was chosen as a finalist in the 2014 Food Marketing Institute’s Supermarket Chef Showdown. Horton and 24 other finalists will compete live in front of celebrity judges in a special kitchen stadium created at the Food Marketing Institute convention June 11 at McCormick Place in Chicago.


Jack Amico, owner of Buffalojobs.com, an information technology staffing company, and Buffalo branch manager for Adams Real Estate Advisors, was elected by Rotary International to serve as governor of Rotary District 7090 for 2014-15. The district consists of more than 2,400 Rotarians in 70 clubs throughout Southern Ontario and Western New York. Amico has been a member of the West Seneca Rotary Club since 1995 and served as club president in 2002.

Riverfront Medical announced that all of its clinic locations are in compliance with the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners, the new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration program that will go into effect next month. The registry lists medical examiners who have been trained, tested and certified to perform medical examinations for commercial motor vehicle drivers in interstate commerce.
