Carlee Conway, a senior at Sacred Heart Academy, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the U.S. Naval Academy. She has won the girls’ Monsignor Martin tennis singles title the last three years. In September, she will be attend Naval Academy Prep School in Alabama for two semesters in preparation prior to enrolling at Annapolis, Md., in 2015.

GOLF: The Town of Hamburg Recreation Department is offering adult lessons this spring and summer for beginners, and spring only lessons for golfers on the intermediate level at 18 Mile Creek Golf Course, 6374 Boston State Road at McKinley Parkway, Hamburg. Both spring beginner and intermediate golf lessons will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning today and concluding May 29. Beginners may attend at either 12:30 p.m. or at 6 p.m. either day. Participants in the intermediate classes may also attend either Tuesdays or Thursdays at 1:45 or 7:15 p.m. Only beginner classes will be held in the summer session that runs June 16-July 10 at 12:30 p.m. on Mondays and 7:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All classes are open to residents and non-residents. All sessions consist of four one-hour lessons that strive to teach the basics of golf (swing fundamentals, chipping, putting, etc.) in a fun, non-threatening atmosphere to prepare golfers for on-course play. The first outing will be held at Bartlett Country Club in Olean on June 6, and serve as the unofficial start of St. Bonaventure’s Alumni Reunion Weekend. The second will take place on June 20 at Eagle Vale Golf Club in Fairport. The Bartlett event will begin at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start in a four-player scramble format. The cost is $125 a person, or $100 for those who are already Bartlett Country Club members. The price includes a box lunch on the course and hors d’oeuvres following the round. The outing at Eagle Vale will begin at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start, in a four-player scramble format. Dinner will follow the golf at approximately 6 p.m. The cost is also $125 per person and includes lunch and the buffet dinner, $25 for just dinner.
