An Atlanta man admitted Friday to taking part in a loan scheme that cost a local company $175,000.

Rodney Walker, 44, pleaded guilty to wire fraud as part a plea deal agreed to before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell T. Ippolito said Walker told the unidentified company he could obtain letters of credit from banks if the company provided him with money to cover the costs of the transaction. Walker used the money for his own purposes.

James DeMatteo, Walker’s defense lawyer, said his client plans to make full restitution. His conviction is the result of a FBI investigation.
