Traffic stop leads to a drug arrest

WHEATFIELD – A driver was stopped by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies after she was observed driving in reverse in the 3100 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard at 6:48 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver, Nafisa Ahmad, 33, of Porter Avenue, Buffalo and her passenger, Joel M. Green, 43, of the same address said they were looking for an address to buy a recliner.

Deputies said they saw an open container of “Twisted Tea” a hard alcohol in the center console of the car and found that Ahmad’s license had been suspended for failure to answer a summons. Inside the vehicle was a small baggie containing suspected marijuana seeds and a small marijuana cigar.

Green said the alcohol was his and was issued a ticket for drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Ahmad was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, unlawful possession of marijuana and unsafe backing.
