Niagara University plans a community garage sale

LEWISTON – Rather than trash it at the end of the semester Niagara University, for the second year in a row, is organizing an end-of-year community garage sale, which will be held in the Kiernan Center from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 15 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 16. The sale is open to the public.

The community sale called “2 Good 2 Toss,” was instituted by members of Niagara University’s Vincentian Mission Certificate. All Niagara University students, as well as employees, are encouraged to donate items that are clean and in good condition, as well as nonperishable food, rather than toss them into dumpsters or leave them behind as the rush to summer break begins.

Some of the items that may be available for sale are small appliances such as toasters and microwaves; electrical cords; lamps; chairs; rugs; electrical equipment; books; computers; and unopened nonperishable food goods.

All proceeds benefit Niagara University’s Office of Campus Ministry and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Unsold items in good condition will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store.

Last year the sale raised nearly $1,500.
