High speed chase after Amherst shoplifting incident

Two Niagara Falls men were arrested after a high speed police chase from a Wegman’s Food Market in Amherst ended with them crashing into a pole and sign on Military Road near Edgewood Road in the Town of Niagara about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Charles Myers, 38, ran from the Wegman’s at 3135 Niagara Falls Boulevard a short time earlier without paying for merchandise and he got into a car driven by James Jordan, 43, according to a police report.

Amherst Police Officer Stacey Klem gave chase north on Niagara Falls Boulevard into the Town of Niagara where the suspects’ car crashed and the two fled on foot. Klem captured Myers and Amherst Police Officer Kyle Lefevere captured Jordan.

Myers was charged with third-degree burglary and petit larceny. Jordan is charged with petit larceny and a number of vehicle and traffic infractions.
