LOCKPORT – The Western New York Land Conservancy is hosting a wildflower hike from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at its 36-acre Niagara Escarpment Preserve on Leete Road in Lockport. The Land Conservancy signed an agreement to protect that land in 2011.
The hike through mature hardwood forests will be led by Ed Fuchs, Joanne Schlegel and Matt Candeias. Fuchs and Schlegel are past presidents of the Niagara Frontier Botanical Society, and Candeias runs a Facebook page called “In Defense of Plants.”
The hike is free and open to the public, but space is limited and attendees must register in advance by calling the conservancy at 687-1225, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
