Pavement milling begins in Lockport

LOCKPORT – A Fairport company began milling off the two inches of pavement in Lockport’s most pothole-strewn streets Monday, in a preliminary to their repaving.

Norman D. Allen, director of engineering and public works, said the crew worked on Summit Street and Lincoln Avenue. Other streets, including parts of Pine, Willow, Locust, Washburn, Gooding and East High streets and Elmwood Avenue, are to be milled in the next few days.

Villager Construction is to be paid an estimated $68,700 for grinding away the top of the pavement. The city plans to spend nearly $500,000 in repaving them with its own crews.
