WHEATFIELD – The National Association of Letter Carriers will hold its annual food drive May 10, and locally it will benefit the United Way of Greater Niagara.
Last year, Niagara County postal customers donated 135,000 pounds of food to the nation’s largest one-day food drive. Customers may leave nonperishable food items near their mailboxes, and a postal worker or volunteer will pick them up. Personal hygiene products such as toothpaste, deodorant or soap also are being sought. Those with unusually large food donations should call their local post office to arrange for pickup.
Glass containers are discouraged because of the possibility of breakage.
Those who can’t give food but would like to donate money may send a check to the United Way of Greater Niagara, 6420 Inducon Drive West., Suite B2, Sanborn, NY 14132.
