LOCKPORT – Sean M. Vickers, who has turned down three plea offers in a triple-child molestation case, had his trial postponed for three months during a Friday appearance in Niagara County Court.
Vickers, 45, of Geneva, a Level 3 sex offender, is charged with sexually abusing three children in the Barker and Middleport area between August 2012 and March 2013. He faces similar charges in Genesee County involving five children, some of them being the same ones as in the Niagara County case.
County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas agreed to a request from Assistant Public Defender A. Joseph Catalano to put the trial off from May 12 to Aug. 18. Catalano said he needs more time to prepare for a trial that was put off from its original April 7 date. Vickers faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if he is convicted. The most recent plea offer would have limited his prison term to 20 years, concurrent with anything he receives in Genesee County.
