OLEAN – Mayor William Aiello has been named to the state Conference of Mayors’ Nominating Committee. The eight-member panel selects the nominees for seats on the executive committee. Each year, four members of the 16-member executive committee are up for election. The executive committee is made up of 15 mayors and one affiliate organization representative.
“Mayor Aiello has been an active participant in NYCOM programs and is well suited to serve on this important committee,” said the organization’s president, Richard Donovan, who is the mayor of the Village of Minoa.
“His commitment to quality public service in New York State will ensure that the leadership of the Conference of Mayors remains in good hands.”
Aiello will succeed his predecessor, former Olean Mayor, Linda Witte, in the post. Witte was appointed into the same position last year, by then-president William Nelson, mayor of Ogdensburg.
The Conference of Mayors represents 583 cities and villages in the state.
