LOCKPORT – Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas refused to reduce bail Friday for a Town of Niagara man who is accused of firing a gun in the presence of his live-in girlfriend and holding the gun to her head.
Bail remained at $50,000 for Daniel B. Riehle, 59, of Tuscarora Road, who was arrested April 1. Assistant District Attorney Cheryl L. Nichols told Farkas that police found the gun hidden behind a pillow that seemed to have a bullet hole in it, although forensic tests are not yet complete.
Assistant Public Defender Michael E. Benedict asked for the pre-indictment bail to be cut to $25,000. Riehle’s record includes some 1970s felony convictions in Pennsylvania, Benedict acknowledged.
