Erie County residents seeking to safely dispose of their unused and unwanted prescription drugs are being urged to surrender them at the 8th annual Prescription Drug Take-Back from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Satudary.
“This is a convenient way to ensure that unused drugs do not fall into the wrong hands,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Gale Burstein.
To locate the nearest collection site for their unwanted drugs, residents may visit online at www.dea.gov and click on the “Got Drugs?” icon and enter a Zip Code. Those without internet access may call 800-882-9539 to find a nearby site.
Only pills and other solids, including patches, will be accepted at the collection sites. Liquids, needles and other sharp objects will not be accepted.
“It is important to note that this service is free and anonymous and no questions will be asked,” said Burstein.
