Cheap Eats: Forestview’s large, affordable menu satisfies indecisive eaters

Every evening together, my boyfriend and I have the classic seesaw discussion about what we want for dinner.

“What are you in the mood for?”

“I don’t know. What are you craving?”

One night, we headed to Forestview in Depew to see if we could find something that would satisfy our indecisive taste buds.

We were immediately seated in one of the many booths by an amiable waitress and quickly realized that the Forestview can satisfy just about any craving. The large menu includes traditional breakfast and lunch options, as well as unique items, including Buffalo Chicken Meatballs, Mandarin Chicken and Shrimp Salad and a Finger Roll-up. There are a variety of items under $10, such as omelets, breakfast paninis, flatbread pizzas, cheesesteak sandwich, banana pepper chicken sandwich and several burgers.

I ordered the open chicken souvlaki salad ($8.99). The salad was made with fresh mixed greens, feta cheese, peppers, onions, olives, tomatoes and pepperoncini and came with a warm, fresh pita on the side.

Mike chose something similar with the chicken souvlaki wrap ($8.99) that included chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion, peppers and fresh feta.

The house dill dipping sauce was amazing, especially when paired with the fresh pita or french fries.

We delighted in our simple yet delicious meals, and all around us, families and other couples were enjoying their affordable meals, too. As a bonus, a magician was walking around the booths and tables completing various tricks for the intrigued kiddos.

Early-bird dinner specials are offered from 2 to 5 p.m. along with other daily specials costing less than a Hamilton such as Steak in the Grass Pizza, Garlic Parmesan Wings and Bang Bang Shrimp.

Forestview has a bar in the front of the restaurant that is host to live bands and serves many delicious cocktails such as the Key Lime Martini, Peach Bellini and Chocolate Irish Coffee, along with an extensive wine list.

A mini dessert café features a few high-top tables where you can indulge in one of the many delectable desserts such as a brownie sundae, mini Heath cream pie, chocolate mousse roll or, my new personal fave, the Mississippi Cheesecake.

No matter what you are in the mood for, whether it be Greek, American or just want a spectacular egg scramble, Forestview satisfies your taste buds with an affordable meal that will bring you back time and time again.
