Tonawanda chemical plant part of $200M deal

FMC Corp. has completed the sale of a business division that includes a Town of Tonawanda chemical plant.

FMC sold the division, named PeroxyChem, for $200 million to One Equity Partners, which is JPMorgan Chase’s global private investment arm. The deal was announced last year.

The Tonawanda plant included in the deal, on River Road near the Goodyear Dunlop tire plant, has 120 employees. It produces persulfates and peracetic acid. Persulfates are a powerful salt used in energy extraction and the high-tech industry, while peracetic acid is a sanitizer, disinfectant and sterilant used in a variety of industries.
